Intro to E-Books Guide
What is an e-book?
An e-book (electronic book) is a book that is "composed in or converted to digital format for display on a computer screen or handheld device" (Merriam-Webster, 2011).
The e-book collections in this guide fall under two major categories:
- E-books that can be downloaded for free to e-book readers.
- E-books that can be read online for free, but cannot be downloaded to an e-book reader unless they are purchased by the user.
Many of the sites we've listed also have partial access to titles in their collections and the option to search full-text.
